What Does My Health Fund Cover?

If you have ancillary optical cover, your health fund will contribute for spectacles, prescription sunglasses or contact lenses. Your annual limit is determined by your health fund. We do offer NO GAP reading glasses with all health funds.

Can I Drive Or Go Back To Work After An Eye Examination?

Yes. On the first visit, no dialating drops are used. If the optometrist needs to blur your vision they will arrange for a more convenient time for you to have the special test.

Will I Get Spectacles If I Have An Eye Test?

Our qualified optometrists check the health of your eyes as well as the need for spectacles. Only you will decide if you get the spectacles or not.

How Long Do Spectacles Take?

Single vision spectacles take an average of 1.5 weeks, and multifocals take 2.5 weeks. Express service is available on request (fees apply).

How Long Do Eye Examinations Take?

Approximately 30 minutes.

Can I Order Prescription Safety Glasses From You?

Yes.

Can I Order Prescription Sunglasses From You?

Do You Offer No-gap Spectacles?

Yes.

Do You Have Hicaps?

Yes. We can process your claim in-store for you.

Do You Bulk-bill Eye Examinations?

Yes. We offer bulk-billed eye examinations for all consultations that are claimable from Medicare. Retinal Imaging is optional and attracts a $40 fee that is non-claimable. Some contact lens consultations are also not covered.

Is My Contact Lens Prescription The Same As My Spectacle Prescription?

No. A contact lens prescription requires a contact lens fitting, and is almost always different to your spectacle prescription.

Is An Eye Examination For Contact Lenses The Same As An Eye Examination For Spectales?

No.

Are You Open On The Weekend?

On Saturday The Westfield Sydney (formerly The Galeries) is open 10am-5pm, and QVB is open 9am to 6pm. On Sunday The Westfield Sydney (formerly The Galeries) is open 11am to 4pm, and QVB is open 11am to 5pm. Chifley Plaza is closed both Saturday and Sunday.

Do I Need To Make An Appointment For An Eye Examination?

An appointment is encouraged so that you can be seen at a time most suited for you, however, you are always welcome to come in without an appointment.

Is It Ok To Come To My Eye Examination If I Have Been Wearing Contact Lenses On The Same Day?
